Another Amber Alert today. After I got up I turned on my 4290 STB to listen to Stingray music on Channel 726 and immediately got an amber alert. Interestingly, it was only in French verbally.  That box is not connected to a TV. I checked our iPhone 5S (which is always turned off (in standby)) and the alert was there (in both languages) with the alert issued at 4:58 AM.

I then checked my 9865 STB and got the alert there as soon as I turned it on, but again, although the written alert was in both languages, the verbal alert was only in French. I don't think that's how it should work... I hit "exit" on the box when the message repeated a minute or so later (again still only in French verbally).  I'm not aware of any "archive", but perhaps there is one.  I'm sure if you search the internet you'll find discussion of the topic.  As a matter of fact, the notification on my iPhone 5S "goes away" after a couple of views and I need to remember to do a screenshot if I want to revisit it.

I see that the alert was over at 8AM. Why was I still getting the alert on my Rogers boxes at 9:30?

I did see news links to that Alert on social media and that it was called off when resolved. Sometimes previously I could not find anything on recent alerts by searching, but there's lots on Google News about this one. I'm sure there has to be an archive of alerts somewhere, maybe not accessible to the public.

Usually when there is an amber alert in the middle of the night, and it ends before the morning and you wanna know what happened? Do this...

First thing in the morning when you wake up, go to your kitchen, family room or wherever, and turn on the TV, turn the channel to CP24 - Toronto's Breaking News. You will hear constant talk about the amber alert over and over and over so there you have it.

Just checked AMC on ROD and Better Call Saul is not even there anymore and Search comes up with nothing. Wouldn't allowing past episodes to be seen encourage people to watch future ones? Sometimes the "logic" behind this really baffles me.

When people are disturbed by an Amber Alert at an inopportune time, they're annoyed more than anything else. But they'll probably want to check it out later when they're awake or not in the middle of dinner. That's where an archive site of these accessible to the public is important.  In the case of child abductions the perp may be hundreds of kilometers away by the time the alert is processed, approved and broadcast. That is why I share alerts on Facebook even if they're not fin my area.

I appreciate you confirming the device models and OS version. Since the error happening on multiple devices, it could be related to the Google Play account. Does your Google account point to an out of country address?

 

You can try creating a new Google account, clear Google Play's cache/data on the device, associate the newly created Google account with the device and try downloading the app.

Hello ,

 

It is quite strange that the latest episodes of A Discovery of Witches aren't currently showing for you On Demand. 🙁 Can you please confirm if you are located in the Ontario region or the Atlantic region?

 

When I search for this TV series by going to Rogers On Demand channel 100, it does show that episodes 5 & 6 are available to view. Can you please try accessing channel 100 and select the following options?

 

CHANNELS > Dramas & Comedies > AMC > A Discovery of Witches

Just as a test, when I went to Anyplace yesterday, it only showed 1-4. Today Anyplace shows 1-4 and 6.  No 5.

 

When I try to access AMC via ROD (ch100). I get an error message and it asked me to reboot my box.  I don't usually watch ROD so I was just testing.

 

I checked 309 (CraveOD) and it worked fine for me  today and has been working fine because I've been watching Bosch for the past couple of weeks. I also tested Chernobyl and it worked.

So I'm watching the raptors on 997 and 998.
998 is normal. 997 is not smooth motion.
No one else is seeing this problem??

You indicated that you played with the feature to no avail. Could you kindly make sure that t Auto-tune to HD is turned on at this time?

 

To check whether it is enabled in your settings or not, please press Menu Twice on your remote, then My preferences, then Auto-tune to HD.

 

Since it may have to do with your box in particular, please reboot it after saving the changes. 

 

As indicated by Tim, some of the lower SD channels don't auto HD to their High Definition counterparts in the Maritimes.

Although the preferences menu always shows auto tune to HD selected.

If the issue you're struggling with is to get your Yamaha Receiver VOLUME control to work through the Rogers remote, this will make your day:

 

1. Press and hold SETUP until the mode key blinks twice.
2. Press the VOLUME UP key.
3. Press the mode key for the device you wish to use for volume control. (That key would be the Audio key.). The key will blink twice to confirm.

 

Then try the volume key on the Rogers remote and it will work!

 

To make a long story short, in an attempt to get my Yamaha Receiver's Volume to work through my Rogers remote, I searched over 18 websites, input over 20 codes using different methods, and suffered through an incompetent Rogers tech who lost all my recordings.  None of it worked.  I finally found the above 3 simple steps that worked instantly.

 

Just a note about turning electronics on and off, doing this burns the bulbs out a lot faster.  If you've ever noticed, if you leave a light bulb on constantly, it lasts a LOT longer than one that gets turned on and off all the time.  Because labour is so ridiculous expensive to replace cheap little bulbs, I leave my receiver on all the time so the bulbs will last as long as possible.  My Rogers remote is programmed to turn my TV and Rogers box on and off, and to work the volume control on my Yamaha receiver.  Perfect!  At long last.  Whew!

 

Just for your info, my Yamaha Receiver is Model RX-V379.

 

 

Remote Programming for Yamaha Receiver VOLUME control only

If the issue is to get your Yamaha receiver VOLUME working through the Rogers remote, this will make your day:

Try the volume control on the Rogers remote, and you will see that it is your Yamaha Receiver's volume control!
