spoke with someone at rogers recently who indicated my next box 2 which I own is out of warranty so they cannot replace it, are they nuts the box is fine they uploaded the faulty software that disabled it - not me - sabotage !!

anyway issues still abound and no better than when I left for 10 days vacation recently 

now a full month of essentially bad cable tv - and no resolution in sight - I do not not think we should pay for this

From you earlier msgs, it looks like your problems started a month ago with your programs got wiped

as part of the JULY 28 Navikrap launch. 

 

Rogers persons, you know the right thing to do.

Please PM   so you can advise good Sir Robin on how to get his replacement box.

I can't comment on the Shomi situation. I have Shomi in my Rogers package but I never find anything on it I want to watch.

But I can comment on the power failure experience. Last week during a storm in the Oshawa area, I experienced 2 power failures about 30 minutes apart. I was watching a recorded sports program at the time and in each instance the recording reverted back to the beginning when the NB3 had rebooted. So Navigatr is not storing an ongoing recording position for use in the event of power outage. As you also say, I think the previous RTN version had this capability. Perhaps someone still 'blessed' with RTN1 could comment.

Nope - in previous version (RTN 5.1 - and earlier versions) if you have a power failure, or the box freezes, or Rogers pushes out an update while you are watching a recording (as happened to me at 3am today) it will NOT keep your "bookmark" and you will have to search for the point you were at.  That was fun fast forwarding through a 4 hour race, but if you can't increase the fast forward speed, or indeed use it at all (as with On Demand) then it's a REAL pain.  This is the sort of thing Rogers COULD have spent development dollars on (fixing those sort of bugs, and others) instead of wasting it on this stupid new user interface.

They probably can't do anything about leaving a bookmark if you have a power failure, so for that reason I have a UPS to plug my PVR into.

PROBLEMS WITH -­‐ ROGER’s NEW “NAVIGATR” GUIDE

 

1. Pushing LIST (greenbutton) – now get numerous Boxes with all the episodes in them
-­‐ the old Guide a List of all Recorded programs in Chronological Order was given –
that was

100% preferable.

2. Pushing LIST a second time – now gives nothing ?
-­‐ on the old Guide we saw a Chronological List of Scheduled Recordings,

NOW one has to go to each Box to see if it was Scheduled to be recorded ??

-­‐ How is that easier and less “clicks” ??

  1. The Program descriptionS are much TOO small to see even when watching a 50” screen from

    about 12 ft away – (I have 20/20 vision) ?

  2. In the “Recorded” Program box – the date only is given – NOT the time or the Channel?

5. When entering a BOX in Navigatr – there were 4 Recorded programs. I deleted 3 of them ... but the whole BOX disappeared ? One should have remained.

6. The “MORE LIKE THIS” suggestions are absolutely LUDRICRUS !!
e.g. – Recorded Program was “Documentary – on Legend of Lead Belly” (a Blues Doc.). The

Movies listed as “Like this” -­‐ were – “Mall Cop-­‐2” and “American Heist” ... each costing 7 or 8 dollars. How low can you go ???

 

7. Re On Demand Movies – cannot use INFO button to information. -­‐ Cancel – does not work

-­‐ Screen freezes – often
-­‐ The year of the movie is not given

8. One of the main PROBLEMS with all descriptions of Movies, Series and shows is completely WRONG – notes do not apply to the program.

-­‐ often

-­‐ Sometimes NO descriptions at all.
-­‐ Often NO Year or Actors given in the Movie descriptions
-­‐ for Series – why is the Season and the Episode Number never given in the description??

I would expect better from ROGERS ??!!

9. When seeing the red light on the NEXTBOX, then trying to check what is being recorded – Previously a simple push of the LIST button would show you – now you have to search through all of the Boxes and you may get a Red dot ??

10. Re a list of Recorded programs in a “Box”: -­‐ have to scroll down to the first recorded program, push Watch – then if you Stop the program it goes back to the newest program?

HOW is the new NAVIGATR better that the previous system ??

Now thinking of checking out BELL so see if theirs is any better!! John Webb ( a long time user of ROGERS – over 25 years) !!

Can't say that I've noticed that with Shomi, but I'm not at home to test right now. Will let you know if I remember to have a look.

Come on now. "American Heist" is presumably about an American heist and the doc you were watching was presumably about the Blues in America. There's your connection! Also, "Mall Cop 2" has an 'L' in the title just like the doc you were watching. Logical when you think about it.  Smiley Frustrated

We’d like to thank you for your feedback and patience as we work through some of the changes we’re making to NAVIGATR. We always want to hear from people about what they like and where they think we can do better. For example, some of you let us know that the Guide’s font size needs to be bigger, so we’re working on it and are testing new sizes. We’re also looking at ways to improve the recording guide based on what you’ve told us. And in the meantime, we are doing comprehensive testing to make sure the next NAVIGATR roll out goes smoothly. Once we have more details on timing and next steps we’ll share it here.

My HD did not get wiped on July 28 when many NB2s got zapped.

Mine was later on Aug 20/21.  And it is not an NB2, but an NB3.

When I called a machine swap-out was authorized immediately.

 

Was this a Rogers human error twice?

If it was simple human error why did Rogers insist on swapping-out my purchased NB3?

And why till recently did Rogers give NB2 owners a hard time about swapping their machines? 

 

Looking for some answers, Rogers.

Thanks for your reply - that was to be my final step. But I got it fixed today Smiley Happy

 

I got an email from Rogers asking me to contact tech support as they "need more information to resolve my issue'. I got a fresh cup of coffee and prepared for the ordeal. I got a very helpful guy who contected "Level 2" support. They came back saying they would send a "Factory Reset" to my box within the hour. IT WORKED!

 

So although I was told that this had already been done previously, clearly it hadn't. So now at least I can get to the Settings screen and use VOD. Now I will be able to see what the rest of you are complaining about!

So although I was told that this had already been done previously, clearly it hadn't. If anyone still has this issue you need to contact Rogers tech support and request a Remote Factory Reset - it WILL fix the 8642 specific problems. Obviously the other problems people have with NAVIGATR remain but your 8642 will be fully operational.

One more suggestion for you for Anyplace TV...can you put up a news station as being an option?  I'd like to be able to watch CP24 on my computer.   You offer TSN from Bell on there - why not CP24 and BNN too?  Thanks in advance.

 I can indeed confirm that Shomi fast forward controls are just as broke as the whole Navikrap. Four arrows on screen and only able to use one speed. What a piece of - oh, wait, we already know that...
