Re: New Nextbox Navigator

- I personally have not had any experience with Navigator, Only played with my box few times, my PVR did not get the update only my HD Nextbox did. I only use my HD box (as it's in my room) and watch 2 channels (if I turn my TV on at all) -- Not enough hours in the day to watch TV. I am following through this thread however but my input would be no use as of right now.

I can assist with the Any Place TV App itself - There is a lot of different topics going on in 1 thread.
AnyPlace TV Home Edition app shouldn't ask you for the box model - However, It does list which ones you have. This applies If you are logging in from your profile (that's linked to your account) as it will auto detect all compatible boxes.

Dark side? You don't mean ... *gasp* ... APPLE? Don't do it! (Windows 10 is good though, Windows 8... is a joke... and not the ha ha funny joke either)

I have returned from 1969 and now live in the present. The ghost recordings are gone after a reboot. I don't lose my other recordings either so all is good.

Thank you all so much for the information and assistance.

I will try to install the app on my iPad tomorrow as I am very tired of trying to figure out all this "inter web" foolishness.😉

The only way to get these Undefined/Unknown recordings deleted, and to stop it accumulating more, is to reboot.  Just don't reboot during the time of a scheduled recording or the problem just continues.

FYI - depending on the View of My Recordings (on RTN 5.1 at least) the recordings may show as 'undefined' (By Date or By Channel) with a recording/episode description of 'null'.  If viewing By Title and there are more than one, you will see a Folder named 'null' containing 'recordings/episodes' named 'undefined',with a recording/episode description of 'null'.

Another new problem with Navigatr.  We decided to delete the episode of True Detective that Navigatr failed to correctly record (wrong program, wrong time, wrong length).  After selecting delete, and yes we were sure, nothing happened.  So, we did it again.  Nothing happened.  The show is still there.  So, I pressed exit.  Now the tile is gone.  So, it now looks like it's deleted.  Now the box is stuck in some process that's sucking up CPU time, as it takes at least a second to respond to any command.  Had to reboot to get it back to "normal".

I can get the missing stations but get a message that the service is not available right now. This has been happening since Aug 25th in the afternoon.

Thanks, for letting us know about this issue.

It's very odd for a channel to say that the station is not available, for 2 days. Smiley Sad

I would like to get this resolved for you right away.

Have you tried a reboot?

If you have completed a reboot, and the channel is still giving you this message, Please let us know.

Title Unavailable
Dec 31 1969 7:00pm - Dec 31 1969 7:00 pm"

So THAT's why everything is so screwed up - Rogers has gone into the Time Travel business!

Wrote "The only place I have seen the "Manual Recording" since Navigatr is in the Android tablet app, and it was for future scheduled recordings that were not yet available in the Guide, because the Guide had not yet been updated for later in the week.  So I wonder if you have access to the tablet app, and maybe it would allow you to delete the scheduled recordings, because it will bypass the Navigatr user interface.  "

Actually, pre-Navikrap we had at least one recording on the PVR that was a "manual recording" with nothing in it. Couldn't watch it or delete it. Eventually they disappeared (or maybe I just blocked them from memory!) and post-Navikrap they are gone.

Had similar problem (though not identical, my recording was recorded correctly).

Reported it on this post a week or so ago.

In my case Navikrap gave no feedback when I hit delete. Repeated it , still did not know if it deleted correctly.

When I exited, it moved the tile to the end, and as it can find no scheduled programs, the tile vanishes.

When it updated the guide, in the wee hours it finds the scheduled program one week ahead and the tile shows up, at then end. Confusing to say the least.  This leads to another problem with Navikrap.

As was already pointed out series that have ended have no future recordings and will eventually accumulate in in PVR neverland with no way to erase them.  Eventually it will overflow, with who knows what consequences.

Rogers, How you gonna fix this ?

Maybe just say so: scheduled (0).

You are welcome.

PS: Problem did not exist with the old guide. All future shows scheduled or not were visible.

PPS: Sports programming can go for many months before restarting, so please don't have the PVR do an autorease of any series that have been in neverland for a long time.

For example, some of you let us know that the Guide’s font size needs to be bigger, so we’re working on it and are testing new sizes. We’re also looking at ways to improve the recording guide based on what you’ve told us. And in the meantime, we are doing comprehensive testing to make sure the next NAVIGATR roll out goes smoothly. Once we have more details on timing and next steps we’ll share it here.

Thank you...but is it possible to be slightly more specific?  I understand that the rollout has been halted and you are doing more testing, but is it possible to have a clear answer about your intentions?  It seems to me a lot of the anxiety and frustration on this customer board is founded in a lack of information.

And so...is Rogers currently:

A) fixing the parts of navigatr that you do not believe work well (unintentioned glitches) but that will not change the core functionality of your product (i.e. you are working to prevent future deletions of programs during upgrades)?

or

B) fixing the aspects of navigatr that people have raised as issues and which will improve some functionality but are mostly about appearance (fonts or an indicators to show if a program has been "watched" or is "new")?

or

C) fixing aspects of the core functionality of navigatr based on customer feedback (replacing tiles with lists or breaking out recorded shows from shows to be recorded)?

It seems to me that someone, somewhere in Rogers has a project document called "navigatr 2.0" that defines the scope of the work to be undertaken in this paused rollout phase.

If so, please share the scope with your paying customers.  If not, that would explain alot about navigatr 1.0.

Thank you.

By way of a follow up and to close this topic, the problem ultimatly was a faulty DCX3400.  Rogers technician came out to the house to verifiy and simply replaced it (after first trying to somehow blame our TV of course).

He noted that it is a "very rare" problem, but one which they do in fact come accross.

I've had a Suits series recording set up since before the switch to Navikrap. After deleting last week's episode the tile disappeared. I assumed it was the previously mentioned problem where series with no shows scheduled don't show up at all. I now discover this evening that Suits wasn't recorded last night. Is there any indication why? Nope. Because Suits is on hiatus and Navikrap therefore won't show me if its still scheduled for recording.

To make it clear to Rogers:

1. Navikrap doesn't show ANY listing for scheduled series when there's no episodes in the current guide.
2. Navikrap is not recording things that it should.
3. Just give up on Navigatr already. You know it's inevitable once you unleash the krap on the larger market,

Cartianly roilling-back is an easy fix. But Rogers wants to press on fixing what might just be unfixable.

Anyway simple fix for this annoyance is show empty series (i.e. no recordings and none yet scheduled) with a scheuled (0) in the tiny-text.

On an more general topic (and maybe this should be a NEW TOPIC in this Forum),

what can Rogers do to make Navikrap better than the old guide ?

Certainly surveying customers who have been subjected to the flaweed version for a month is one great idea.

And by a recent post, it looks like that is underway.

Let's also share and discuss our ideas for new/better capabilities.

Please look for my one of my favourites, if I may steal from The next(?) US President in the hopefully new topic HOW TO MAKE ROGERS PVRs GREAT, AGAIN.

This topic should focus on NEW things that would make the Navigatr PVR function superior to the old guide.

One good feature of the new Navigatr is that it remembers which recording you last were watching.

So if you are flipping between a live show and a recorded one (e.g.during commercials) or wanna watch

a few baseball games or newscasts at the same time etc. this is helpful.

I don't recall if the old guide did that.  I don't think it did.

However it takes a few button pushes to do the flipping.

Could Rogers program the [last] key to flip is to the last thing watched, not just  a live TV channel ?

One button to go between a live show during commercials to a recorded one.

Most of the time, commercials appear all at the same time, so flipping channels on live TV is often a waste of time.

In my case it would be neat if the [last] key could also do [2nd last] as well. e.g. by hiiting the button a 2nd time within a few seconds.  But that may be confusing to some.

A few minutes after initial post: Hilarous/ ridiculous

Tried to create a new extermely positive thread about making the New PVR software even better than the old one  and guess what?....  the thread get crushed and the post ends up here !

Over and OUT !

No, don't. If you have new ideas for PVRs, part them in the Idea Box forum where they belong.

This thread is already clogged up enough already.

Yes I did and yes I did!

In general, I don't have a problem with the new "Guide" but when it came to the questions regarding the PVR side of things well they got negatives all round from me.

Could it be your Motorola DCX3400-M box? I wish someone else in the Atlantic Canada region would pipe up on this.

As I said before, I get BBC Canada in 4:3  SD here in Ontario and I have to use the # button on my remote to fill the screen. Oddly, now I get it in letterbox, stretched to the width of the screen, so I still have to use the the # button to correct the aspect ratio. I find a distorted aspect ratio offensive to my eyes. But this is a channel my package only gives me in SD. Unless there is an expert here from Atlantic Canada, , your only option is to call Rogers again.
