Re: New Nextbox Navigator
Reminds me of the days when we had to actually get up and turn on the TV.
Re: New Nextbox Navigator
Definition of unabated:
- without any reduction in intensity or strength."the storm was raging unabated"
Probably not the best choice of words - but would appear to be the truth of how they are approaching this issue. So as I read it, the rollout will go forward withouth any reduction in intensity or strength, and like a storm, if we have concerns, or resistance, it will blow us over.
Rogers choice of words, my interpretation, but I didn't pick the words. This choice of words reflects exactly what we have experienced. We have talked, there has been little feedback, and total silence at times, no matter who we speak to. The occasional honesty sneaks out from probably a frustrated rep, as frustrated as us, but the message has been clear from the beginning, they are listening, but appear from their messages that they have no intention of turning back, no matter what we have to say.
Just the humble opinion of a customer of 23 years, who has always been satisfied, almost never spoke out on this forum, and has become highly vocal for myself and all the other souls on this page, and all the people who don't know where to go to say what is on their mind. Although note that the Facebook page has blown up.
Don't know what else to say, don't feel like I am being listened to anyway. All my years of experience, knowledge, preferences, years of being a dedicated customer, none of that seems to matter.
So I thought I was done talking, but just when I think I am done, another phrase, like unabated comes out. I hope the message was stated poorly, and the words were chosen poorly without understanding exactly what those words mean.
"I can confirm that is not the case. Once we are ready to begin the Navigatr rollout to the remaining cities, Navigatr will be uploaded to all eligible equipment unabated." I do hope that when you are ready to rollout to the remaining cities, you have responded to all of the issues on this never ending thread, which will not end until we are satisfied, and will grow if you try to upload to all eligible equipment unabated.
Bruce
So to refresh you on the definition and that our concerns back to this will also be unabated.
- without any reduction in intensity or strength."the storm was raging unabated"

Rogers appears to be tinkering with the insides of our machines again today with mixed results.

You've been a naughty boy, complaining in public, and Mr Rogers has decided to punish you. Now don't do it again.
So, like most viruses Navikrap is now mutating and spreading beyond it's initial target hosts.
Maybe we should simply refer to it as Rogers Ebola. Or maybe Navibola.
Are we sure North Korea isn't behind this?
PS - you can catch up on lost Coast episodes here:

Must have wiped the HD sometime earlier today or in the wee hours.
Angry spouse called Rogers, asking what happened and when can we get the old guide back.
The nice CSR authorized a swap out.
We noted that it records OK now. She said swap it, likely to lose its recordings in future !
We sais OK and asked to note it on our file.
Got the replacement at the nearby Rogers store, fortunately less than a km away.
Rogers employee said he had many people come in to get a replacement machine, today.
Dug a bit deeper, apparently there was an "update" to Navikrap last nite and some machines did not take.
Came home, booted my machine.
Was not authorized to view any
Called and nice CSR authorized it and we were up and running.
I thanked her and mentioned that there were some benefits due ?
She quickly authorized the usual bill credit and on-demand credits.
We commiserated about Navikrap. She was very good and could recite the FAQ perfectly.
Progress. The Navikrap virus can now destroy NB3s as well as NB2s !!
Rogers is in damage (un)control mode.
If they can zap machines with the improved Navikrap virus, why not do it with the old software ?
Go way and test the new junk on a few dozen paid victims, not with a million+ people !
@krap
Just so I'm clear:
1. The NB3 that was "wiped" yesterday had had Navigatr on since Tuesday July 28th?
2. Prior to Friday's "wipe", your NB3 was not displaying blank Settings screen or PIN lockout issues.
3. You weren't at any time made aware that an update/facotry reset was to happen to your PVR on Friday Aug 21st?
Also, can you tell us what town this, please?
Re: New Nextbox Navigator
Dunno what the new download fixed yet, if anything. Would be nice if Rogers told us.
It must also do something deep inside the Firmware's inner-workings (getting ready for IPTV stuff ?? )
else Rogers would NOT be so quick to say swap it out after the download blew my recordings away.
So why is this internal change tied to a krappy untested PVR UI? Rogers, please let us know why?
Anyway found another Navikrap problem.
Could not record a program which I was watching a few minutes delayed.
When I clicked to "live",then "record" it recorded from where I first started watching that program, as it should.

YES could you not tell from my constant whining ?
2. Prior to Friday's "wipe", your NB3 was not displaying blank Settings screen or PIN lockout issues.
NOPe. What are those ?
3. You weren't at any time made aware that an update/facotry reset was to happen to your PVR on Friday Aug 21st? NOPE Ist CSR was nice but seemed to be coached to say nothing about Rogers tinkering. She was very curious as to when we last viewed a recorded program. It was Thursday eve.
Also, can you tell us what town this, please? Mississauga.
PS: We have 2 NB3s, the other one came through the Navivirus attack unscathed.

Can i download rogers anyplace tv app using Windows?
Re: NAVIGATR UPDATE **WIPED MY DRIVE**
Yesterday (Fri Aug 21st) in Post #512 of the 'New Nextbox Nagivator' thread, member 'krap' posted that:
- his NB3 was wiped clear of recordings some time that same day
- the NB3 appeared to function properly afterwards
- a Rogers CSR authorized a PVR swap at the local Rogers store because it was likely to lose its recordings again in the future
- he was told "a lot of people" had similarly come in to that store that day to replace their boxes - indicating it wasn't an isolated incident.
- "apparently" there was an update to Navigatr that caused it and "some machines did not take"
In a follow-up post, krap clarified that this happened in Mississauga.
The CSR's alleged explanation is alarming and were it not for the supporting anecdote that the store had handled a lot of exchanges that day, a reader such as myself might be inclined to dismiss krap's drive wiping story as an isolated incident due to something like a corrupt
krap's already exchanged the NB3 for another -- but if there's someone else out there whose NB3 (or NB2) was "wiped" on Friday 21st, and you're still using it - can you please check what Navigatr software version and build date that PVR currently has?
To check:
- while watching tv, on the remote control (set to CBL), press [EXIT] for 4-5 seconds until a small icon on the front panel of the PVR starts flashing, then press [DOWN][DOWN][2]
- on the diagnostic page that opens, look at the 3rd line from the top of the screen and report back the Firmware Version, Date (mine, not updated since July 28th reports: "5.2.0.230 Tue Jun 16 2015, 11:20:30 PM GMT")
- press [EXIT] to exit the Diagnostics screens.

Re: Nextbox 3.0 I set it to record a program but when I go to watch it, it's not on the list
Hi Godsmo,
To watch from the beginning a program during the course of its being recorded: use the "list" function (alpha or chrono) and scroll to locate it by it's red (recording) icon. Highlight the tile and "select." This will open a menu with "watch" preselected. Activate "Ok/select" and the program will play from the beginning.

If enough were to pledge to withhold one months subscription that might do it. With projections indicating a decline in the cable user customer base they wouldn't disconnect everybody - would they?

Re: Nextbox 3.0 I set it to record a program but when I go to watch it, it's not on the list
Since this thread is going round and round about trying to find the red dot numerous times, perhaps
human behaviour and the way Navikrap handles things being recorded are very very incompatible.
One associates something thats happening now as close/nearby not burried deep (and deeper yet for series) in a pile-of-tiles. If something is near in time (i.e. now), you likely are accustomned to accessing it often/quckly /easily.
That is the #1 reason Navikrap has to go or make a fundamantal change in how it handles shows recording now.
Since PVR behaviour is easier to change than human behaviour, Rogers has NO other choice !
Re: New Nextbox Navigator
There was a live chat with the Rogers Ombudsperson here soon after Navigatr came out and it was discussed quite a bit. Here is the Ombudsman page: https://www.rogers.com/web/support/account/ombudsman/376?setLanguage=en
The chat in its entirety was available on the blog here, but I can't find it now. In the beginning she did not seem to be aware of Navigatr, but she must have been researching it as the chat progressed. Basically, the ombudsman's role is to settle a dispute between a customer and the company in cases where a solution cannot be reached by any other means. As I recall, the success rate in favour of the customer was quoted as 65%.
From what we hear from Rogers, the Navigatr roll-out is set in stone. The question everyone wants answered is why?
