I'm not normally the kind of person who would think that my issues are worthy of the time of a senior executive. In the case of Navigatr, however, the fact that Ron Perrotta, Senior Vice President Marketing, Residential Services, sent us a mailing saying that they were proud to launch this piece of garbage, I felt that I needed to be heard by him.
The first time I called during the day. A receptionist answered and I asked for Ron Perrotta. I was transferred to the voicemail of his assistant Nikki. I left a voicemail. No callback received. I understand attempts by other people instead resulted in transfer to the Office of the President.
The next time I called late at night and used the directory to look him up by last name. Left a message on his voicemail. No call back. I'll probably leave another message in a couple of days. May also try to look up other relevant execs. Need to make sure they're getting the message. Encourage you to do the same.
What more can we say that's going to change their mind ?
If not, "What did Navigtr do today?, can we at least have a summary of every issue as people are doing in the original thread, so that the current people stuck with this mess can at least have a reference that allows them to know how to work around issues, and to add new ones when done. This is not Spam, this is informational. At a minimum, I guess we keep with the #'s and with time, we can pull together a complete list and put it in this thread. I know there is a bit of repetition of past of information (guess one could call that Spam), but pulling all the information into one spot is critical for us the users to know where things are, how to work around, what doesn't work. We can include the FAQ's, and video references too. The more detail in one place the better. At over 45 pages it becomes hard to find out the most relevant pieces of information.
I know we may be becoming repetetive, but that is what happens when you have a large group of frustrated consumers who do not feel like they are being listenend. When you feel ignored, whether true or not, you get louder and more frequent. Normal human behaviour.

Personally, even though I wouldn't wish this on anyone, I WANT them to continue with the rollout. I want to see the reaction when many hundreds of thousands more people are affected as we have been...
It's probably ronperrotta@sympatico.ca
I've already recommended we design and build them a new Navistar.
Or at least let us rejuggle at the existing code to make something that a human being can work with.

@krap, good question. Probably nothing. But I think they're hoping we'll all just shut up and swallow it and that feels wrong to me. Maybe it's a waste of time. Or maybe we keep up the noise, and when they dump Navipoopr on the broader customer base, our voice will grow louder.
We are not just making noise. We are the guinea pigs or perhaps lab rats, the 1st to test this 3/4 finished product in a real-life environment. We are getting our recordings zapped and providing very valuable feedback in exchange for a few bucks and a few free movies, if we beg !
I like the Chicken Cannon approach on Bloor street suggested earlier. Think of the noise we could make with it!
Then again, if we all suddenly keep quiet, maybe Rogers will infect quickly the rest of its customers.
But I think the cat is out of the bag on that one, thanks to us noisy lab-rats!
Interesting, I tried to reply to post #541 with what I believe is Ron's email, and his Linked In account profile, and my post did not show up. Instead I got a message that said:
Your post will appear as soon as it is approved.
==================
So after months they still can't fix the web site to put back to ability to program your PVR, but they can implement a filter quickly enough to block any posts of Rogers email addresses?
Search for him on Linked In. (Try and connect?).
Says he's at Rogers, nice picture (friendly looking chap).
Says he used to work at Cogeco. Bet he's wishing he had stayed there.
(And no, I have no idea why my post is appearing in the funny beige box with formatting messed up).
OLDYELLR wrote:@SWBR, maybe you're right about the Ombudsman. When I click Kim Walker, Rogers Ombudsman in the link I posted, I get a server error. But when I click management team or the Office of the President I get a generic support page with no direct links.
Would not be surprised if she raised the Navigatr issue to senior management, and they decided to shoot the messenger.
Would be par for the course with how Rogers senior management has dealt with this issue so far.
"Na Na Na Na Na - We can't hear you".
HI:
Q: What does Roger say you should do ?
FYI: My NB3s are behaving OK. Sometime when in pic-pic mode and I flip things to quickly for its tiny brain,
it gets confused and freezes a short while later. Does not need to reboot though to recovver.
If you are in Mississauga area, they updated something in the we hours of Friday Aug 21.
If made one of NB3s lose its stored shows. Rogers made me to swap it out.
Thanks for the replys. I live in Oshawa and have not called rogers about the problem as they probably don't care anyway. I wouldn't want to trade the nextbox 3 for a different one as we would lose a lot of recorded programs like we did on the next box 2. So far Rogers has not erased the stored programs on our next box 3. We will just keep on cursing the new navigatr for now and if we have to put up with all the reboots. I will maybe try doing a series of cold reboots on the next box 3 and see if that helps.
If Rogers would ever give us back the ability to program our PVRs via the computer, we would not even have to use Naviagtr for many things. Unfortunately, they removed that function in another brilliant move last April and so far, it has not been restored. With all of their resources now being directed at the Navigatr fiasco, I wonder if the online function to program your PVR will ever be restored!
Still there on the Home edition for apple and android. Works somewhat on my Q10 but not reliably. So definitely the underlying structure is still there, it is some code changes in the box and the two programming elements Cisco Videoscape Voyager Vantage (Vantage) 5.2.0.230 and the overlying front end browser ANT Galio Broswer 3.1.5.24.04.09.11
So they can rollback, if they so choose, but it doesn't appear they have any intention of doing that at all. Guess we will have to wait and see just what they will do somewhere down the road.
For now, I use my phone - drive my poor wife nuts at time, as I change her channel just for the fun of it- I also work through the bugs and crummy layout (my opinion - I have tried it, gave it a good chance, - but bottom line - I don't like it, period.
I also know most of the strange workarounds, the saved features that don't save - what to do when my record button does not work and so forth. I challenge Rogers staff to put out detailed how to's on the workarounds. They have put out the ones they want us to just learn how to do, but since we have to live with the workarounds, why not provide them to all of us poor lab rats who are still trying to find ourself around the maze. Now I know how the lab rats I used to run in my undergraduate psychology labs felt. And I also read somewhere - I think it was the ombudsman that Rogers staff had done a lot of testing - but I have yet to hear what the sample of users used in testing is. I do know who are the beta testers though - us - in the commercial rollout. The next group gets to hopefully get a commercial, bug free, userfriendly interface.
Have we said this before - Yes I think so - I could just move on and forget it, but every time I use my box I am reminded again. Only human.

Couldn't delete the message, so just deleted the content which was in error. You can follow the link to google store from MyRogers Account Overview, TV - will tell you that the tools to manage your recordings is not available, but refers you to the anyplace home edition. Enjoy those who have apple or android. May not be lollipop compatable yet, but the google pages say coming soon. Bruce
The thing is that Rogers Anyplace TV Home edition only works with iOS or Android. If you do not have one of these phones, you are out of luck. If you have an Android with Lollipop, you are also out of luck, though Rogers has said that it might work by November! Also, I do not want to program my PVR on a 4.5" screen. The ability to use the PC would come in so handy right now with Navigatr showing so many glitches! It was working; the platform was there; why was it removed?
bluewater wrote:Can i download rogers anyplace tv app using Windows?
Kind of.
There is an 'Anyplace TV' app for Windows 8. Its very similar to their On Demand channel and rogersondemand.com. Quite frankly, you're better off using the website than the Windows app.
There is no version of their other app, 'Anyplace TV Home Edition' for Windows and the website version has been disabled since the spring, with no real return date ever given.
We all wonder why the most popular operating system on earth is treated as a second class citizen, but that's for Rogers to explain.
